Our Diagnostic Services 

We are excited to offer our clients and patients ultramodern diagnostic testing with our in-house veterinary diagnostics lab. With it, our vets can provide you with an accurate diagnosis of your pet's symptoms and the appropriate treatment options.

• Radiography (Digital X-Rays)

  With a radiograph (digital X-ray), we are able to examine your pet's internal systems to uncover information that could be invisible to us from the outside. 

  Radiography is safe, painless, and non-invasive. It only utilizes really low doses of radiation. Since the level of radiation exposure needed to implement radiography is so low, even pregnant females and very young pets are able to have this procedure done. 

  Our vets can use radiographs to examine bones and organs and diagnose conditions such as broken bones, some tumors, bladder stones, chronic arthritis, and spinal cord diseases. 

• Ultrasound

  On weekdays we have a partner come in who is able to conduct ultrasound testing. This form of diagnostic imaging allows our team to take highly detailed images of your pet's internal structures.

  In ultrasound imaging, we expose part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the body's insides. 

  Because the ultrasound images we take are in real-time, we are able to see the structure and movement of your pet's internal organs, including the blood flowing through the blood vessels.

  Having this valuable technology available to our vets means that your animal companion's condition can be diagnosed almost immediately and treatment can start as early as possible. 

• Bloodwork

  At our Westfield vet lab we can run a variety of common and specialized blood tests to evaluate the health of your pet, to diagnose their illness.

  A few of the most common veterinary blood tests we perform are CBC (complete blood count), white blood count, hemoglobin and MCHC, hematocrit, platelets, eosinophils, and blood serum profile. 

• Urinalysis

  Urinalysis is a key diagnostic test that gives your vet key insights into the physical and chemical properties of your pet's urine.

  Urinalysis is mostly used for assessing the health of your animal's kidneys and urinary tract system, however, it could also help us detect issues in other organ systems and is essential for diagnosing metabolic diseases such as diabetes.

  This is an important diagnostic test for both healthy and sick pets and should be included in any comprehensive evaluation of your pet's overall health. 

• Fecal Exams

  A fecal exam is the microscopic examination of your pet's feces, which our vets can complete at our in-house vet lab in Westfield.

  The primary goal of a fecal exam is to find and treat any GI infections that might be negatively impacting your pet's health and potentially the health of everyone in your home. Fecals let your vet determine if your pet has intestinal parasites such as roundworms or hookworms. 

  Parasites can make pets uncomfortable, irritable, and can lead to more severe conditions. Some can even be transmitted to humans.

  Because these parasites reside in your pet’s gastrointestinal tract, they are often hidden out of view. The only way to find them is with a fecal exam.

  Annual fecal exams should be a part of all of your pet's routine wellness exams.  

• ECG / EKG

  If your veterinarian conducts a physical examination and believes your pet might have a heart disorder, they will take chest X-rays and have our partner (who comes in on weekdays) implement an electrocardiogram (ECG / EKG).

  This examination can be done quickly and easily. It uncovers data that could be integral to your pet's diagnosis. Sometimes, a cardiac ultrasound will be needed to identify disorders in the chambers of the heart.

• Digital Dental X-Rays

  If your cat or dog is suffering from periodontal disease, a lot of the damage will be happening below the gum line where it can't be seen easily. Digital dental X-rays help our veterinarians evaluate the overall health of your pet.

  Digital X-rays are safer for your pet. They let. our vets assess the roots, bones and internal anatomy of your cat or dog's teeth.

  With digital X-rays, the risk of radiation exposure for your animal companion is a lot lower than with traditional X-ray technology. We are able to see below the surface of your pet's gum line to fully evaluate every tooth.

  This technology allows your Westfield vet to see results immediately, then project them onto a computer screen to review.
